Here Everyone Can Be Happy

The author

Bjartmar Guðmundsson

Bjartmar Guðmundsson was a farmer at Sandur and a former member of the Icelandic parliament. This book gathers his memories of the farm, the northern countryside, and the people of a bygone time.

„It all came from within and of its own accord, like grass growing or a flower blooming in the morning dew of spring.“

The name

Bjartmar had a sheepdog named Ring — black, with a snow-white ring around his neck. As a puppy he was simply called Sæli, “little Sæli.” This site is named after him.

Sæli means happy, blessed, content — the same root as the book’s title.
